Polar Express

The other night we experienced our first trip on the Polar Express. This is something I have always wanted to do with my children, and I’m so happy we got to experience it together. We’ve had this planned for months because you have to buy tickets in the early fall in order to get in. I’m so happy we were able to get them, because it truly was so much fun and magical for them.

First, I surprised Ella Rosie with a princess nightgown before we went to wear with her bestie Kendall. Then we headed to the Colorado Railroad museum in the foothills of the mountains to ride the “Polar Express.” The first part of the show was “the story,” songs, dancing, hot chocolate, and cookies in preparation for the train ride.

Next, we boarded the train. It happened to be a beautiful evening for this as well. I love this picture of Ella Rose and Kendall holding hands. They were so excited for the train ride.

Once we boarded the train the conductor came around and punched the children’s golden tickets. The kids had a blast waving their tickets around singing Jingle Bells.

Santa then came around and gave each child a bell. This was probably the neatest part of the evening, because Ella Rose has been asking for a bell like the little boy in the movie. Watching the joy on her face when she received the bell from Santa was so enchanting. We rode around the track a few times and the show continued with a few more Christmas songs from the movie. Finally, they handed out these special Christmas mugs for each family.

After we rode around, we got off the train and went to another train to see Santa. Ella Rose sat on his lap with Kendall and also Owen. She shared what she wanted with Santa again, 😉  and this time Owen sat on his lap without screaming too. He walked right up to his lap, wanting to sit there, but stared hesitantly at him the entire time, haha. The kids loved this.

Finally, we walked around the gift shop that smelled exactly like Christmas is supposed to. 🙂 I’m really happy we did the Polar Express the week of Christmas. It really made the Christmas experience even more real for Ella Rose and Owen. I highly recommend doing a Polar Express experience if they offer one near you. It was probably our favorite holiday festivity in preparation for Christmas!

Hope everyone has a safe, blessed, and Merry Christmas!
